Don’t Trade Lives
Human trafficking and slavery is about the buying and selling of people for exploitative labour or sexual slavery. It has been estimated that trafficking enslaves 27 million people today, in countries worldwide. Governments, businesses and individuals worldwide – including in Australia – have a role to play in combating this crime.
We don’t accept that there are children around the world whose fundamental human rights, like the right to education and the right to play, aren’t protected like ours are.
Vision Generation members have been championing World Vision Australia’s Don’t Trade Lives campaign in local communities across Australia and have seen huge changes in consumer and corporate behaviour – particularly in the cocoa industry – but there’s still more to do. As a member of Vision Generation, you can help ensure governments, businesses and consumers make changes to protect the human rights of people around the world who are currently trapped in exploitative situations.
Will you be a part of ending this modern-day slave trade?
